The Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) has appointed Kylie Walker as its new CEO. She will succeed Dr Margaret Hartley FTSE, who has been an outstanding leader of the Academy over the last 11 years.
Kylie Walker leaves her role as CEO of peak body Science & Technology Australia, where she achieved considerable success. She was named in the Australian Financial Review’s 100 Women of Influence list for 2019 for her work to improve equity, diversity and inclusion in STEM.
Dr Margaret Hartley has taken ATSE from strength to strength, and SAGE begun during her leadership. In her time at ATSE, the proportion of new ATSE Fellows who are women more than doubled, from around 20 per cent in 2008 to 48 per cent in 2019.
Kylie Walker said that she was honoured to lead ATSE and build on its national and global reputation for fostering excellence in technology, engineering and applied science. She will commence the role at the end of January 2020.
SAGE thanks Dr Hartley for her contributions towards the success of the pilot program and looks forward to working with Ms Walker in her new role.
